, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you, alex. >>> a man walking to a liquor store was among four people shot near oakland's lake merritt. investigators recovered dozens of shell casings at two separate crime scenes. at 10:30, officers were called to east 18th street. three people in their 20s have been shot there. two men and a woman. meanwhile, a stray bullet had wounded an apparent innocent bystander, heading to a liquor store a few blocks away. all of the victims are recovering in the hospital this morning. coming up at 7:30 a live report on what kind of weapons police think were used in this attack. >>> 7:03. grab an umbrella. we have rain. more of it moving into the bay area, coming down pretty good causing problems all over the bay area. ktvu's brian flores is live near larkspur right there. i can see you're wet. coming down pretty good. >> reporter: yeah, probably about a couple of minutes ago, dave, the rain started pouring pretty good here. yeah, but steve's been talking about it all morning. we're not expecting huge rain amounts from this storm but the ground is saturated from the

starts like now. this is ktvu channel 2 news at 5:00. >>> good evening, i'm ken wayne. >> hello again everyone i'm heather holmes display day long search off the waters near vallejo has failed to turn up any sign of a missing man of the a coast guard search team and local law enforcement agencies combed the area near mare island. jade hernandez. >> reporter: vallejo police are in charge of this investigation and they have called off the search tonight and will reassess tomorrow if they crime scene back out to the water. i want it you to take a good look at this man's photo. he is 6'1, about 210 pounds with hazel eyes and has surgery scars on his forearm and chest. vallejo police immediately called the solano county dive rescue team after mattingly's son said he was last seen on mare island. first thing this morning his family contacted police. >> it has yet to be determined if anyone has fallen in the water, but in an abundance of caution we're trying to utilize all the resolutions that we have available to us here in solano county. >> reporter: that includes the vallejo police and f
the car. ktvu's jade hernandez is live in concord with what police suspect the driver may have been doing right before the crash, jade. >> reporter: well ken this impact shook this funeral chapel so hard that everyone inside thought there had been an earthquake. there's deep gashes in the ground. the front of the building is boarded up and there's a pile of debris still out front. but what you can't see is how close one man says he claim to not ringing in the new year. at first glance there was the nose of the chevy nova. it was sticking aout of -- out of the chap -l and debris was everywhere. with the arms around those who had been ushered outside of the side room was inside, they were grateful. >> literally sends after i had been in the side room, the car careened into the building. >> reporter: inside the funeral home the car struck a man who lingered in the foyer before services began. sending the 62-year-old to the hospital as well. >> there's significant damage inside the building that goes into the foyer of the chapel. the second driver who was not involved in the collision return
're live in green brain -- greenbrae this morning, alex savidge, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you, alex. >>> rising creek waters flooded roadways an temporarily closed highway 101. it happened on the peninsula in a creek that overflowed its banks. janine de la vega is live at the creek to show us some of the damage. >> reporter: well, we're right here on the border of palo alto and east palo alto. this is highway 101 and the creek flows right underneath it and the water was so high last night that it was flashing up over and onto the freeway. this is video of that same area of what it looked like last night. water was flooding on 101, north of the embarcadero. the highway patrol was helping motorists with traffic breaks. the creek crested at university avenue and woodland. the water spilled over and into the entrance of the four seasons hotel. fire officials say even though there was not massive damage, they remain worried about the creek. >> we need to work on these holes in this levy. can't leave it like this especially since we're early in the winter and this is the second significan

to have an update later. janine de la vega, ktvu channel 2 news. >>> police are looking for a young man who stabbed a 74-year- old man in downtown gilroy near lewis and monterey streets near the gilroy public library. police say the victim was stabbed in the torso but is expected to survive. his attacker is white, in his 20s with blond hair wearing dirty, tan-colored clothing. >>> police investigating bullying at an amendmentary school apparently made girl think about suicide. the parents found a suicide note m her bedroom. they claim two boys had been harassing their daughter with lewd comments. the parents called vallejo police and an investigation has begun. >>> san francisco city college may have a new financial crisis. >>> lorraine blanco is live with new information on what may be threatening funding for the school. >> reporter: we talked with veteran. and the college needs to enroll 34,000 students to keep the funding. last year, the school enrolled 32,600 students and it was put on probation. administrators expect to fall thousands short this school year. it's the second year in

unsupervised. >> reporter: matt keller, ktvu, channel 2 news. >>> we now know the identity of a man fatally shot in broad daylight near oakland's jack london square. the victim is michael taylor. police say he suffered gunshot wounds just before 3:00 p.m. homicide directives don't know of a motive. >>> oakland police are looking for a driver who hit and seriously injured a motorcyclist last night. the collision happen the about 10:00 p.m. at high street and fleming avenue. witnesses reported seeing a possibly gold sedan hit the victim, and then take off. anyone with information is asked to call oakland police. >>> caltrain service is back on track tonight after a brief shut down earlier this evening, when a train struck a car in san francisco. somehow the vehicle ended up on the tracks at 16th street near 7th. no one was injured. the accident happened around 5:30 tonight. that's when service was temporarily suspended. thecontra costa times is reporting the identity of a man killed in a skateboarding accident. scott hickerson died when he was struck. he was riding his skateboard in the cross
